and don't forget your Cute Apron!

Chilled Champagne is the perfect Valentine's dinner drink, before, during and after because it is light, bubbly and perfect for special occasions.

The type of food you choose to eat will very much depend on your personal taste but there are many simple and light courses that can be made in advance (or with little fuss) to create a delicious, memorable meal.

Perhaps you will choose to woo your partner with a fresh shellfish starter of oysters, scallops or prawns, alternatively asparagus in butter is a popular Valentine's starter choice as is heart shaped toasts and pate or heart shaped bruschetta.

A sumptuous roast duck with orange sauce makes for a delightful main course, or Spaghetti Carbonara topped with sizzling bacon pieces, Leg of Lamb with Rosemary & Garlic is another favourite and for a fancier fare opt for Lobster Thermidore.

Cheesecake, Mousse or Sorbet all make light and refreshing desserts but whatever you choose, your Dessert simply must include a chocolate or two.

Choosing an Apron: Things to Look Out For

Posted on January 25, 2012 by Aimee Rogers | 0 Comments

Child's ApronAre you on the lookout for a new apron? As your kitchen apron will be used regularly, it’s important to take the time to choose the right one. There are all kinds of aprons available these days and they come in many different styles. If you’re looking for fashionable, affordable aprons then visit www.buycuteaprons.com, the one stop shop for aprons for all the family.

What to Look Out For

There is more to choosing an apron than simply going for a specific style. You need to take into account the following factors:

·         Quality

·         Type

·         Convenience

As it is something that will be used quite a lot, you need to ensure that you get a good quality apron. Never just go for price alone. While you obviously want to save as much money as you can, often the cheapest things in life are not always the best! So when you do find an affordable apron, check that the quality is good too.

You also need to think about who the apron is for. You can find aprons to suit all the family. The 1950's Vintage Apron is perfect for little girls. Or if you’re looking for an apron for the man in your life why not opt for the men's light my fire apron? These are just some of the great styles on offer.  Men's Apron

Win a Boardgame & Go Green!

Posted on January 25, 2012 by Kirsteen Mackay | 0 Comments

Now you have the chance to win a great fun & educational board game for the whole family to get involved with. The Go Green Board Game has been designed to allow you to become self-sufficient and green, by teaching you all sorts of interesting facts. The box contains miniature pigs, chickens and hay bales to fill your garden with. You can also grow fruit and veg in your allotment.

As you work your way around the board with a wheelbarrow, all of these items can be collected and added to your patch of land. Along the way you get to learn some amazing facts about sustainability through ‘Natural Selection’ multiple-choice cards. If you get the answer right, you win a hay-bale to feed your livestock. If not, you still learn eco-information about some rather amazing facts, such as the UK imports 90% of all its fruit!

The ‘Green Fingers’ cards turn up unexpected twists and turns in your quest to go self-sufficient, so you’ll have to protect your chickens from foxes, sell your produce for profit at the village fair, and avoid drought, Bird flu, and the possibility of your livestock escaping.

The winner is the person who grows the most fruit and veg in their allotments and who owns the most animals in their gardens the first!

If you have any questions regarding the game you can contact One Earth Games by emailing them at info@gogreenboardgame.co.uk

The game is designed to be played from ages 7 up to 100, from 2 to 4 players.

The Best Apron Cleaning Tips

Posted on January 24, 2012 by Aimee Rogers | 0 Comments

Josephine ApronWearing an apron for cooking can help to stop you from getting stains on your clothing. However, what about the apron? When you own a fashionable apron such as the Bib Josephine Café Toile apron, you want to make sure that you don’t get any permanent stains on that either.  The question is how exactly can you clean your apron?

Tip #1: Double Check the Label on Your Apron

It’s essential that you read the washing instructions on the label of your apron. It will tell you how hot the water should be and what type of wash you can do. Some aprons may be dry clean only. While others may require you to hand wash them. If it can be washed in your washing machine, make sure that you soak it for around 20-30 minutes before washing. This will help to loosen any stains beforehand.

Tip #2: Use Liquid Dish Wash for Greasy Stains

Greasy stains can be a nightmare to get out. You should find that liquid dish wash works quite easily. Apply the wash directly to the stain. Then rub it in until the stain disappears.

Tip #3: White Vinegar and Water

White vinegar and water can help to remove milk stains from aprons. At first it may smell quite potent but that should die down after the apron has dried.
